Adelaide’s historic shopping precinct is set to be renamed to honour one of South Australia’s most significant individuals in a move that has unanimous support.

Rundle Mall will be known as the Erin Phillips Walkway of Greatness from Sunday 31 March to recognise the pioneering AFLW Footballer and all around superstar.

Phillios, who lead her team to their second AFLW Premiership in three years was stretched off the ground late in the third quarter after a suspected ACL injury. Despite the setback, she managed to win the award for best on field as the Crows dominated a lacklustre Carlton outfit.

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall said the name change made sense.

“No one knows who Rundle was? His name could have been Jonny Rundle for all I know. I don’t think there’s a person in this great state who doesn’t know who Erin Phillip is. She’s one of a kind and we therefore think it’s appropriate to name our shopping precinct after her.”

The move will be replicated across the city, with the Torrens River to be named the Marinoff River, and Victoria Square to be known as Chelsea Randall Place of Worship.”
