The Victorian media have broken with tradition and are yet to sink the boot in to the entire Richmond playing group and administration following their embarrassing capitulation against Collingwood last night.
The Tigers, who were overwhelming favourites leading into the match, were outplayed in every facet of the game by Nathan Buckley’s side, who now progress to the Grand Final.
Conspicuous in his inability to rise to the big occasion was Richmond captain Trent Cotchin, who surprisingly has yet to have his character and integrity attacked by hundreds of Victorian journalists looking to make a name for themselves.
The Journal spoke to one such journalist about the decision – Fox Footy’s Jon Ralph.
“I’m not the kind of guy who likes to assassinate someone’s character for no reason. I think it’s fair to say that while Trent and Richmond didn’t play their best tonight, that he is clearly the heart and soul of that group and that he shouldn’t be blamed for the loss. We should celebrate Collingwood’s success.”
“If you want to talk about shit captains, let’s talk about Tex Walker.”
It is understood that some members of the Victorian media are already preparing articles on Richmond’s upcoming preseason camp, praising the Tigers for trying to improve themselves.
More to come.
