Port Adelaide’s high profile off season recruits are expected to make their mark on this weekends highly anticipated match in the SANFL.

Steven Motlop, Jack Watts and Tom Rockliff all came to Port Adelaide after being rejected from their previous clubs, much to the excitement of Power fans and Michelangelo Rucci.

Seven weeks into the season, it is clear that the trio will be a big part of the Port Adelaide Magpies push towards an SANFL finals berth.

“What they’ve been able to come in and do, in such a short space of time, has been mediocre, and that what we expected” said Power coach Ken Hinkley.

“If we’re being honest, we went after them so that we could fill our salary cap. There’s no way in hell we were going to pay players like Karl Amon and Jake Neade more than a few hundred bucks, so it had to go to someone.”

“Our fans like to pretend they follow the SANFL once its clear that the AFL team won’t have any real impact, so this is a way to continue that engagement.”

“Maybe one day we’ll be able to get someone to the club who can actually contribute, but until then mediocre spuds like Trent McKenzie and washed-up players like Lindsay Thomas will do.”
