Ian ‘Sarge’ Perrie has today announced he has joined the Australian Defence Force.
The bullocking full forward, known for his ability to crash packs and take chest marks, made the move after realising fewer people were addressing him as ‘Sarge’ in his post football career as a relationship counsellor.
“I used to strike fear in the hearts of the opposition. Now I’ll be striking fear in the hearts of whoever stands in the way of the Army Reserves.”
“I’ve played along side the likes of Scott Welsh, Ken McGregor and Luke Jericho. I know what it’s like to be part of an elite unit.
Australia’s Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Angus Campbell has poured water on Perrie’s ambition to enter the army at the rank of Sergeant.
“He’ll start at the bottom like the rest of those yellow bellied newcomers. Private Perrie. It has a nice ring to it.”
